Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (SHUATS) serves as a public state agricultural university in Allahabad. It was established in the year 2010 as Allahabad Agricultural Institute and it became the first Indian institution to provide a degree in the field of Agricultural Engineering. SHUATS have 6 faculties, which are comprised of 60 academic departments, 15 constituent schools and 4 advanced research centres. The University offers UG, PG, certificates and diploma programmes and doctoral programmes in various disciplines.

SHUATS has an accredited ‘A’ grade by NAAC. The institution received UGC approval in 2000, as well as ICAR and ICFRE approval in 2009.

Courses & Fees

Admission to the Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture Technology and Science is available at three levels. SHAUTS Allahabad admissions comprise 22 UG, 2 diploma, and 87 PG courses. After meeting the eligibility requirements, candidates must complete the university application form. The university then publishes the merit list. Candidates whose names appear on the merit list must attend online counselling. Candidates must attend open online counselling for subjects other than agriculture and pharmacy, according to the SHUATS Allahabad admission procedure. Finally, candidates must submit their documents and pay the fees in order to secure their seats.

Facilities & Infrastructure

• Boys Hostel

  SHUATS Allahabad boys hostel facilities include well-furnished single, double and multiple occupancy rooms, wi-fi, mess, etc. The university provides hostel facilities also for foreign students.

• Girls Hostel

  SHUATS Allahabad girls hostels are well-furnished and well-ventilated. Single, double and multiple occupancy rooms are available as per the convenience of the students. The university also provides a hostel mess, where both vegetarian and non-vegetarian hygienically prepared meals are available. The hostels are fully enabled with a high-speed internet facility.

• Medical/Hospital

  The university has an on-campus hospital named Hayes Memorial Mission Hospital. The hospital has experienced gynecologists, physicians, ophthalmologists, surgeons, pathologists, orthopaedists and anesthetists. SHUATS Allahabad medical facilities include labs, operation theatre, pharmacy and OPD, IPD, X-Ray and ultrasound facilities. Students, officers, faculty members, university staff and local people can avail the SHUATS Allahabad hospital facility.

• Library

  The library has a common reading room for the students and faculty members. SHUATS Allahabad library facilities include books, national and international journals, periodicals, magazines, bilingual newspapers, competitive books, reports, scientific publications, e-books, online journals, dissertations, thesis, conference proceedings, abstracts, synopsis, articles, essays, etc. For online resources, the college library has subscriptions of EBSCO, Emerald, Pearson, Springer, Tailor & Francis, Pro-Quest, etc. E-resources can be accessed through FedGate, the single window tool provided by the library. INFLIBNET, DELNET, ASCE, ASME, IEL are other search tools for accessing online resources. The antiplagiarism software, Turnitin is used to maintain standards of project reports and thesis, submitted by students and research scholars. The library also uses KOHA software for OPAC and other library services.

• Sports

  Students are encouraged to participate in various sports and games provided by the university for physical and mental well-being. The university also provides qualified instructors for supervising the students. SHUATS Allahabad sports department provides both indoor and outdoor games. Separate fields are maintained especially for outdoor games like football, cricket, hockey, etc. There is also a 400 metres running track and a table-tennis room. Inter-house competitions are also organised throughout the year for the final championship.

• I.T Infrastructure

  SHUATS Allahabad IT infrastructure maintains the networking of the entire campus. Every department is equipped with computers. The computers are installed with the latest software to support project and research work of the students.

• Cafeteria

  SHUATS Allahabad cafeteria facilities include vegetarian, non-vegetarian and South Indian food. All-time meals at very reasonable prices are available in the cafeteria.

• Auditorium

  SHUATS Allahabad laboratory facilities include modern instruments and apparatus for practicals. Every department has its own laboratories to facilitate a deeper understanding of the subjects among the students.

  The entire campus is enabled with high-speed, wireless internet. Students and faculty members can access the internet facility at any time from anywhere inside the campus.

• Banks/ATMs

  SHUATS Allahabad has an on-campus State Bank of India and provides all kinds of banking services to the students and staff members. Post office facility is also available.

• Convenience Store

  The university has many stores like photocopy store, stationery store, etc on its campus to cater to the needs of the students and staff members..

• Gym

  The university provides a gym facility for both boys and girls students. The gym is equipped with modern equipment for workouts.

Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology, and Sciences placement report for 2024 is not out as of now. However, the NIRF report 2024 has been released for the Pharmacy department. As per the report, the median package for BPharma and MPharma courses during the 2023 placements stood at INR 1.20 LPA and INR 1.87 LPA, respectively. Further, 1 BPharma and 2 MPharma students were placed during SHUATS placements 2023.
