Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU or CSJM University or Kanpur University), formerly known as Kanpur University, is a public state university located in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Kanpur University was established in 1966. CSJMU is recognised by UGC and accredited with a B grade by NAAC. CSJMU offers various Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses in Science, Arts, Commerce, Management, Law, Engineering, etc. streams. Kanpur University course admission is based on merit and the entrance exam. CSJMU Kanpur admission process is conducted via online registration. CSJM University entrance exams are JEE Main, NEET, JEECUP, and GATE. CSJMU NEET PG cutoff stood at 1143 for MD in General Medicine. During CSJMU placement, more than 1,200 job offers were made. Kanpur University provides financial assistance to economically weak students through mean-based scholarships. In addition to this, CSJM University also offers scholarships to meritorious students.

Courses & Fees

CSJMU PhD admissions are based on the CSJMU Entrance exam and departmental Interviews. CSJMU provides its PhD scholars with numerous modern research facilities and equipment. The CSJMU admission application for all the courses can be done only through online mode.

CSJMU Physiotherapy ranking by IIRF is 47 out of 105 colleges in India in 2023 and it was 41 out of 114 colleges in India in 2022.

CSJM University awards financial assistance to economically weak students through mean-based scholarships funded by the University’s distinguished alumni and philanthropic institutions. The scholarships offered to the wards with low annual parental income are 25-50 per cent of the annual fee depending upon the need of the students. Such candidates are required to provide an income certificate issued by the Tehsildar or the Magistrate.

In addition to this, Kanpur University also offers merit-based scholarships to students who have secured a minimum of 60 per cent aggregate or CPI of 6.5 out of 10 in the previous qualifying exam. The names of the students for scholarships are finalised by the University Committee that comprises every year.

Facilities & Infrastructure

• Boys Hostel

  The University has a boys’ hostel with a capacity of 400 students. All the hostels have mess facilities at very moderate rates, 24-hour power supply, common hall, TV room, reading rooms, telephone, recreational and sports facilities with a tight security system. The students are allowed to use their computers in the rooms.

• Girls Hostel

  The University has three well-furnished girls’ hostels with a total capacity of 500 students. All the hostels have mess facilities at very moderate rates, 24-hour power supply, common hall, TV room, reading rooms, telephone, recreational and sports facilities with a tight security system. The students are allowed to use their computers in the rooms.

• Guest Room/Waiting Room

  The university has guest room facilities that come in handy when guests have to come to stay at the university. It has well-furnished rooms and a great catering service. The guest rooms of the university are built near the administrative building and are located right next to the Bank inside the university campus. With this, it forms a great spot for guests to reside in.

• Medical/Hospital

  The university has to attend to the medical needs of the students, the Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj has a health center that has all the first aid facilities for the students. It is well-equipped with 10 beds. It also has an OPD of Dental and Paediatrics, Psychology, Psychiatry, Surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology, OBS and Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, and Medicine which is run and maintained by specialist doctors of the city. The Physiotherapy OPD is well-equipped for physiotherapy students to use and practice.

• Library

  The university also comprises a central library that is open to all students. The library is also well equipped with its computer subnet that has the most modern Cat-6 network technology. This is done by connecting it to the campus LAN and using an optical fiber network to ensure fast speed. The library is automated through SOUL software. The database of the library contains more than 3000 theses, 60000 books, and other reading material, which is available through its web OPAC online.

• Sports

  The university has To enhance the student’s all-around development, the university sports a huge stadium which is inside the university campus. It is used to conduct a variety of sports activities like 400-meter races, hammer throw, cricket tournaments, kho-kho, kabaddi, tennis, volleyball, handball, basketball, hockey, football, high jump, among various others. In addition to this, the stadium can also be used for individual activities by the faculty members, the staff members, and the students of the university.

• I.T Infrastructure

  The university has a state-of-the-art computer center. It is well-built and has all the resources that are required to conduct academic activities in the universities. With this, the computer center provides the students with hands-on practical experience so that they can also move ahead with the increased technological development. The students and the faculty members of the university have free and open access to the computer center. Additionally, they can also use the internet facility that is available within the computer center.

• Laboratories

  The university has a departmental-based laboratory facility for students.

• Alumni Associations

  The university has good networking for the alumni association.

• Cafeteria

  The university has a canteen is perhaps the busiest place. It is the place where almost every student is expected to pay at least one or two visits a day, and not just to have a taste of some delicacies, but also to brush him or her­self up with the latest information, real or based on some rumor. Thus there is a free and frank discussion of the fashion of various boys and girls and the teaching habits of different teachers. Sometimes, discussion can center on some political or economic matter. Particularly, the senior stu­dents may discuss some new world develop­ment or new government policy on some matter.

• Auditorium

  The university has a fully air-conditioned auditorium having aesthetically pleasant Architecture. It has a seating capacity of 1500 audience. The auditorium has full carpeted surfaces and world-class furniture which is both aesthetic and comfortable for long hours of seating. Besides a huge stage, the auditorium also has the best sound and light facilities.

• Banks/ATMs

  The University campus has computerized branches of two Nationalized Banks namely Union Bank of India and Bank of Baroda to cater to the banking needs of students. Fully equipped with ATMs and Core Banking facilities, the banks play a key role in meeting the financial needs of students staying far away from their homes.

  These Banks also have the facility of both short-term and long-term loans for students.

• Gym

  The University has he gym and provides students with physical exercise consistently. It is particularly important for the physical well-being of students who have set aside physical activities after their school days.

• Swimming Pool

  The University has Swimming Pool is an Institute Community Facility operating under the Physical Education Section through a Management Committee appointed by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor.

• Parking Facility

  The college has a parking space facility for its faculty, staff, and students.

• Convenience Store

  The University has a Post Office, Vishwavidyalaya Metro Station, Food Truck, Milk Parlor, etc..

• Moot Court

  The Law School Moot Court Society (“LSMCS”) is the student committee entrusted with the responsibility of administering and facilitating all mooting-related activities at Atal Bihari Vajpayee School of Legal Studies (“ABVSLS”) and upholding the high standards of excellence that ABVSLS has set for itself in the field of mooting. Our primary roles include: 2022 being the year of inception of the LSMCS the prime role of the society shall be planning, organizing, and executing The Atal Bihari Vajpayee School of Legal Studies- National Moot Court Competition. Constituting the University Moot Team, to represent the CSJMU at various national and international moots. LSMCS appoints an MCS in charge and legal strategists to support and guide the teams in their respective competitions.

The placement drive 2023 concluded with more than 1,257 job offers made during CSJMU on-campus and off-campus drives 2023. Over 612 job offers were received on-campus and more than 645 job offers were attracted from the job fairs and pool drives. Further, the top recruiters who participated in CSJMU placements in the past years were Paytm, Neemus, HCL Technologies, Zomato, etc.

The University has also released the NIRF 2024, which incorporates the 2023 median package for various courses. The median package offered to BTech and MBA students during 2023 placements was INR 4.09 LPA and INR 3.20 LPA, respectively. For BPharma and MPharma courses the median package stood at INR 3.75 LPA and INR 2.80 LPA, respectively.
