Admissions to the first semester of all Undergraduate courses are made on the basis of seats allocated by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) from the list of candidates selected by all India JEE (Main). Besides, a specified number of foreign nationals/NRIs selected under the policy laid down by Govt. of India, are admitted directly to the 1^st year of the courses.

College Admission Process

National Institute of Technology Silchar offers admissions for 6 UG, 23 PG, and 11 Doctoral courses. The NIT Silchar admissions include 6 B.Tech, 19 M.Tech., 1 M.B.A., 5 M.Sc., and 11 Ph.D programmes. The candidate should appear for the relevant examination.

NIT Silchar B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering cutoff 2023 closed at 21355 for the General All India category students. The Round 1 closing rank for the same was 10645. During the NIT Silchar cutoff 2022, the Round 1 and the Last Round closing cutoff for B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering were 9701 and 12065 for the same category.

Comparing the latest year cutoff with the previous year, NIT Silchar witnessed an improving trend for the B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering course. NIT Silchar JEE Main Cutoff Year Wise Comparison 2023, 2022, 2021

As per NIT Silchar cutoff 2023, the Last Round closing rank for B.Tech in CSE has increased compared to the previous year. The Last Round closing rank for General AI category students for B.Tech in CSE was 14510, while for the General Home State category students, the Last Round closing rank was 24876.

During the NIT Silchar B.Tech in CSE cutoff 2022, the Last Round closing rank was 12065 for the General AI category, while in 2021, the Last Round closing rank was 14121.

During the NIT Silchar OBC 2023 cutoff, the Last Round closing rank for B.Tech in CSE was 17660 for the AI category students. For the Home State Quota, B.Tech in CSE cutoff closed at 30631.

The scholarships are not only dependent on the national level scholarships provided by MHRD but also the institute has its own scholarship schemes that are distributed on a merit cum means basis. Swami Dayanand Education Foundation Scholarships are given to students belonging to low annual income families (Less than Rs. 6 lakh per annum). The value of the scholarship ranges from Rs. 15,000 to 50,000 depending on different scholarship categories. 30% of the scholarships under this scheme are reserved for women candidates.
Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) Chinese Government Scholarships for students on the merit-cum-means basis are given as per the Chinese government-sponsored norms.
