Rama Devi Women’s University

Formerly known as the Government Women’s College, Rama Devi Women’s University is a state-level university. It was established in 1964 and was entitled as a University in 2015. It is the first women’s University in the state of Odisha. At present, the University has 49 women’s colleges affiliated with it. RDW University is recognised by UGC and was also awarded CPE (College with Potential for Excellence) status by UGC. RDW University offers UG, PG and PhD courses under Science, Arts and Commerce streams. It also has a placement cell that conducts the recruitment process and also provides pre-placement training to the University’s students.

Ramadevi Women’s University (RDWU) is a premier institution in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. It offers BA, B.Sc & B.Com courses in various disciplines at UG level and MA, M.Sc & M.Com at PG level. Ramadevi Women’s University also offers admission to M.Phil program on the basis of score in written test and Viva-Voce.Minimum eligibility for BA, B.Sc and B.Com programs is a pass in 10+2 from a recognized board.

• The admission to UG courses is granted on the basis of marks in 10+2.
• The minimum eligibility criteria for PG courses is a pass in the relevant Graduation degree while the admission is offered on the basis of score in the entrance test followed by Viva-Voce and career marks.
• A consistently good academic record with not less than 55% marks in Master’s level is required to pursue M.Phil course.
• M.Phil admission is granted on the basis of score in the entrance and marks in the qualifying examination.
• 10% of the total seats in each stream will be filled by candidates claiming for direct admission category (International participation in NSS and Sports).
• Admission to B.Ed. is done on the basis of previous degree merit.

Scholarships & Funding

• Girls Hostel

  The University has a hostel facility for girls with good accommodations. Hostel admissions are made based on merit and good behavior after being admitted to the college. Parents are only permitted to meet their wards at the hostel and complete their visitor forms, which can be obtained from the hostel office.

• Library

  The Library of Rama Devi Women’s College was started in 1964. The present library is housed in a three-story separate building which is named as Kuntala Kumari Library. It has a collection of 52,000 books subscribing to 50 Indian journals, 10 newspapers, and 20 magazines. There are seven staff working in the library. In 2004, the Library started modernizing by automation with LAN connection to different aspects of services. The books available in the Library have been bar-coded to facilitate easy and faster circulation. To facilitate visually impaired students, the narrator Jaws software is available for use. The college was declared as Rama Devi Women’s University on 31st May 2015 and accordingly, the Library became Rama Devi Women’s University Library. However, the name of the library was named after Kuntala Kumari Sabat, a noted women literary personality in Odisha in As per the rule laid down in the statute of the University, the Library Committee is constituted to deal with the general administration of the Library and frame the relevant rules subject to approval of the authority of the University.   The university has a Wi-Fi facility for students and staff.

• Auditorium

  The University has an auditorium where all functions and meetings are held. The auditorium is air-conditioned and offers Wi-Fi connectivity along with state-of-the-art audiovisual aids.

• Gym

  The university has a well-equipped gym on campus to cater to the needs of students who wish to stay fit. It is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on all working days. The gym has treadmills, exercise bikes for cardio workouts, and strength training equipment as well.

• Cafeteria

  The University has a cafeteria which is managed by an agency chosen by the university. The canteen serves hygienic food, tea coffee, tiffin and sometimes meals too.

• Medical/Hospital

  The university has an Ayushi Health Center, which exists primarily for the benefit of the students and staff in the case of an emergency. The health center assists in the maintenance and improvement of health through the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease, illness, injury, and other physical impairments among students and staff.

• Banks/ATMs

  The University has an ATM center under the franchise of SBI to cater to the needs of the students and employees.

• Sports

  The University provides sports facilities for all the students.

• Laboratories

  The university has departmental-based laboratories for students.

• I.T Infrastructure

  The university has excellent IT infrastructure facilities for students.

• Alumni Associations

  The university has good networking for the alumni association.

As per the report, 72 UG (3-year) and 58 PG (2-year) students were placed during placements 2022. The median package offered to UG (3-year) and PG (2-year) students during Rama Devi Women’s University placements 2022 stood at INR 2.9 LPA.
