Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith (also known as MGKVP Varanasi) is a state-level university that was established in 1921. The university is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). It has three campuses, namely Gangapur campus, NTPC campus and Bhairav Talab campus. Apart from these campuses, the university has 10 faculties, four constituent institutes and over 30 departments at its Varanasi campus.

It also has more than 350 affiliated colleges spread over six districts, namely Varanasi, Chandauli, Bhadohi, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra and Ballia. MGKVP offers several degree, diploma and certificate programmes in multiple streams, such as Management, Science, Fine Arts and more. Not only this, some of the popular alumni of MGKVP include Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Kamlapati Tripathi, Raja Ram Shastri and more.
