Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU), formerly known as Andhra Pradesh Open University is a state open university for higher education in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Established in 1982, BRAOU is the first open university to be established in India. BRAOU offers more than 50 UG, PG, PG Diploma, Certificate, and PhD programs in the faculties of Arts, Commerce, Education, Sciences, and Social Sciences with an annual enrolment of over 1 Lakh students. All the programs are recognized by UGC and the Distance Education Bureau (DEB).

Admissions at BRAOU for all UG and PG programs (except MBA and B.Ed) are based on merit (marks secured in the qualifying examination). MBA admissions are based on scores obtained in the TS/AP ICET or BRAOUMBA Entrance Test (BRAOUMBAET). The university also conducts an entrance test for admission to the B.Ed program. BRAOU admissions are conducted twice a year, i.e. January and July sessions. Registrations for the January session are usually conducted in the month of January-February and those for the July Session start in June every year.

BRAOU application forms are released online on the university’s official website – braou.ac.in. Interested students must submit the application form on or before the dates declared by the university. The registration fee for admission at BRAOU is INR 200 for all UG and PG programs. For the offline mode of admission, students must submit the application form to the nearest BRAOU study center. BRAOU operates through a network of 179 Study Centres, including 23 Regional Coordination Centres (RCCs), spread over the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

BRAOU UG Admission 2024

BRAOU offers BA, B. Com B. Sc, and B.Li.Sc courses at UG level. 10+2 is the minimum eligibility criteria for UG programs and Bachelor’s degree in the related discipline is the minimum eligibility criteria for B.Li.Sc. BRAOU MBA Admission 2024

BRAOU offers a 2-year MBA in General and an MBA in Hospital & Health Care Management (HHCM) programs through the Department of Business Management. MBA is one of the flagship programs of BRAOU. The MBA Program is open to all citizens of India (both fresh graduates as well as in-service candidates). Candidates who have completed a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks are eligible for admission. BRAOU offers B.Ed (General) and B.Ed (SE) in various disciplines for two years. Admission to these courses is based on the B.Ed Entrance Test conducted by the university. The minimum eligibility criteria is a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university.?

BRAOU Hyderabad scholarships are offered to interested candidates who need assistance and hold merit. Education Loans: Getting an education is no longer an impossibility these days. Education loans at reasonable interest rates are available from Nationalized Banks to needy and deserving students. These loans are repayable once the degree/diploma is completed.
Financial Assistance: This program assists academically gifted and financially disadvantaged students obtain a higher education by waiving tuition fees. Merit position holders in qualifying examinations/competitive examinations also receive tuition fee reductions—those who have achieved a high ranking in the university examinations. The parents of deserving students are honored alongside the students at the university’s annual functions.
