Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata is a state university established in 1962. RBU Kolkata was named after Rabindranath Tagore with a mission to take forward his thoughts and ideas through the courses of Humanities, Social Science, Art and Culture. Courses at RBU Kolkata are offered at diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels in the field of Arts, Fine Arts and Visual Arts.
RBU Kolkata is approved by UGC, NAAC and AIU. RBU Kolkata offers BA(Hons), B.Ed, BFA and B.Lib.I.Sc at undergraduate level whereas at postgraduate level RBU Kolkata offers MA, M.Phil, MSW, MFA and M.Lib.I.Sc. RBU Kolkata also offers distance learning programmes as well as full-time programmes.
RBU Kolkata provides government scholarships, stipends and funding like Rajiv Gandhi Fellowship, Indira Gandhi Single Girl Child Fellowship, Maulana Azad Fellowship, Kanyashree Scholarship and many other scholarships for the students in need. RBU Kolkata has a placement cell which takes the responsibility of providing placement to the students. RBU Kolkata provides facilities including hostel, library, canteen, health care centre and guest house to the students which are necessary for their comfortable stay at the RBU Kolkata campus.
