Handique Girl’s College

It’s offers higher secondary courses in science and art stream, graduation in arts and science stream, masters in various subjects, BCA and PGDCA. All the courses are AICTE approved.

Graduation and master’s course are for the duration of three years. PGDCA is a one year program.

The process of application is offline. Candidates can obtain the application form and prospectus from the college after the payment of the application fee.
The minimum eligibility requirement for admission in higher secondary course is to secure 45% (40% for reserved category) aggregate marks in the qualifying examination.
For three year degree course in arts or science stream and BCA, candidates must be passed in 10+2 with 50% (45% for reserved category) marks in the subject concerned.
For PGDCA, candidates who have completed a three-year degree course is eligible for applying
Selection for all the courses is completely based on the merit in the qualifying examination.
College reserved seats for SC/ST/OBC/MOBC category students of the Assam state as per the government rules.

Graduation and BCA course Admission 2024

The college offers under graduate course in Arts and Science stream in different subjects. The course duration for graduation and BCA is three years. Minimum eligibility requirements are passed in 10+2 with at least 50% aggregate marks. Selection is based on the merit in the qualifying examination.

Application process of the above courses has to be completed through offline mode.

BCA	–

For Students choosing Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Zoology for master’s must have passed in these subjects in the 10+2 examination. For Microbiology the student must have passed in Biology and for Computer Science the student must have passed in Mathematics in the 10+2 level.
For BCA, passing in mathematics in 10+2 is a mandatory requiremet.
Candidates securing 40% marks in the qualifying examination are eligible to apply for admission into Bengali and Sanskrit Major only. Candidates choosing Sanskrit as Major must have passed in the subject in the 10+ 2 level.
In case the candidate has not studied the subject in 10+2 level in which she desires to study Major, (only in the case of those subjects which are allowed as per Guwahati University regulations) her eligibility for taking Major will be her aggregate percentage.

PGDCA Admission 2024

The college offers post graduate diploma in computer application for the duration of one year. The minimum eligibility is to be passed in three-year degree course in any stream. Selection is based on the merit in the qualifying examination.

Application Process

The application process is offline. Candidates need to obtain the application form and prospectus from the college. Below are the details regarding the application process:

Candidates have to visit the college for application form.
On payment of the application fee, the form can be filled and submitted at the college itself.
An applicant is required to submit only one application form for a particular stream. The submitted form must be complete in all respects. Incomplete forms are liable to be rejected.
At the time of application process, the candidates have to submit photocopy of only of the marksheet of the qualifying examination duly attested.
Following documents are to be produced at the time of admission:
- Marksheet and Admit Card of the last qualifying examination.
- Two copies of recent passport-size photograph.
- A certificate from the Head of the institution last attended, testifying her character.
- Caste Certificate from the competent authority (wherever necessary).
- Anti-ragging – An undertaking from the applicant and also her guardians that the applicant will not resort to ragging, in any form, must be submitted in the prescribe format at the time of admission.
Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination in the previous year and have a year gap in their studies, require to produce the following documents:
- The Head of the institution last attended.
- Officer-in-charge of the nearest police station.
- Government Gazetted officer testifying her activities during the interim period.
- Medical Certificate from a registered medical practitioner (on genuine medical grounds)

Girls Hostel

The College has a hostel of-of its own on the eastern bank of Dighalipukhuri. It is named after the poetess and the renowned litterateur, the late Nirmal Prabha Bardoloi, who was one of the famous alumni of the Institution. The College Hostel may be considered an integral part as well as an extension of the Institution. The atmosphere of the Hostel reflects the true multiplicity of divergent cultures of the region. As such the students are required to maintain a healthy community atmosphere in the Hostel.
Medical/Hospital

The college has a medical facility with a well-furnished sick room.
Library

The College has a modern computerized college library is an invaluable aid to the young scholar. The college has a state of art library building spreading across two floors with 458 sq. mt. area. The library is named Rajabala Das Library in honour of the founder Principal of the College. The library has an impressive collection of books, journals, newspapers, and magazines, e-resources like CD/DVD, e-journals, e-books, bibliographic databases, etc. The library with its open access system and the spacious reading area provides an atmosphere conducive to the excitement of mental discovery. Students are encouraged to become sagacious users of the library which is a welcome haven for intellectual pursuits. Moreover, each department of the College has an individual library called the departmental library, which provides additional help to students and teachers in their academic pursuits.

The college has sports facilities for all students.
I.T Infrastructure

The College has an air-conditioned Central Computer Centre with 32 sets of high end desktop computers and a high speed 50 Mbps broadband line provided by AMTRON under ASWAN Project. Both students and the faculty members use this facility to access the internet, download materials, scan and take print-out of the materials of their interest and do other computer based tasks.
Cafeteria

The college cafeteria serves both vegetarian and non-vegetarian items. The cafeteria does not disappoint in terms of diversity or quality of food. The students can relish on detectable food at times. It caters to the canteen requirements on the college campus. The canteen is also provided with UV treated filtered drinking water setup along with water coolers. A similar safe drinking water facility also exists at yet another point on the ground floor of the college.
Laboratories

The college has a departmental based laboratory facility for the students.
Auditorium

The college has an auditorium facility for events and seminars.
Gym

The College has taken initiative to establish a fitness center (Gym) in the college premises in the year 2010 with some modern and sophisticated equipment. Students use the facilities in the center every day after class hour.
