Indira Gandhi National Open University, popularly known as IGNOU, is a government-owned university established in 1985. IGNOU is the largest open university in the world and the only open university in the country with a NAAC ‘A++’ accreditation. IGNOU offers part-time/distance education to more than 4 million students in India and abroad through its 21 Schools of Studies, 67 Regional Centres, 2667 Learner Support Centres, and 29 foreign institutes.

IGNOU Admissions 2024

Indira Gandhi National Open University admissions to the Certificate, Diploma, Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses are done on the basis of merit from the most recent qualifying examination. IGNOU Application Process

Candidates are admitted on the basis of the marks secured in their last qualifying examination, through the IGNOU direct admission process. To secure admission, meeting the basic eligibility criteria is mandatory. The university also conducts entrance exams for admission to programmes like B.Ed, B.Sc Nursing, M.Phil and PhD. Once the candidates successfully passes the entrance test, they will then be eligible to apply for admission to IGNOU.

IGNOU Cut Off 2023

The Indira Gandhi National Open University cut off is the minimum mark that has to be met by all the applicants to secure admission to the university. For most of the programmes merit based admission is done, while for some such as B.Ed, Post Basic B.Sc Nursing, MBA, M.Ed, M.Phil and PhD, entrance exam scores are considered. The entrance exam is conducted by IGNOU itself for these above mentioned programmes. For management courses, IGNOU OPENMAT is conducted, however, candidates who have aced management tests like the CAT, MAT, and state-level exams, are not required to take the OPENMAT. This exam percentile will be then translated into percentages based on the highest possible score and the actual score obtained. The IGNOU cut off set for the CAT/ MAT/ State-level Entrance Exams is 40%.

IGNOU scholarship provisions for students belonging to the ST, SC and PWD categories. The scholarships are offered under the schemes of the Government of India in the form of fee exemption or reimbursement facilities. The important features of IGNOU Scholarships are as follows:

IGNOU scholarship application forms are not available online. As a result, students must contact the appropriate authorities to acquire information.
To apply for IGNOU scholarships, students must first get an application form from the Directorate of Social Welfare or the office of their State’s Social Welfare Officer. They must then submit the completed forms to the Regional Director at the various regional centres for certification.

IGNOU hosted a campus recruitment drive in the month of February in collaboration with ARCIS – E SERVICES PVT LTD and GLOBIVA. The recruitment drive was held for the permanent positions of Regional Callers, Backend Executives and Retention Executives with salary package ranging between INR 1.7 LPA and INR 3 LPA. Earlier, IGNOU placements drive was conducted in partnership with Insurancedekho and Litterae Foundation at its convention centre. Vacancies for the post Tele Sales and Data Entry Operator were released. Further, IGNOU conducted its campus placement drive on Feb 15, 2023 at its Baba Saheb Ambedkar Convention Center, IGNOU Maidan Garhi Campus. The institute conducted its placement drive for the post of Customer Service Executive, Copy Editors and Technical Writers. All eligible candidates registered themselves on the same day. The placement was conducted for Air India SATS and APTARA. The package offered during this placement drive was between INR 20,000 to INR 30,000 along-with incentives.
