Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology & Applied Nutrition

Established in 1973 as a Food Craft Institute, IHM Bhubaneswar started offering three-year BSc course in Hospitality in 1981 and was renamed – State Institute of Hotel Management. Further, in 1984, the Government of India upgraded the institute to ‘Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology & Applied Nutrition’. IHM Bhubaneswar is affiliated to National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology (NCHMCT) and it offers degree, diploma, craftsmanship and Hunar se Rozgar programmes to hospitality aspirants.

  The college has separate hostel seats for boys with a capacity of 140 seats respectively. Additional hostel space is created through the use of vacant staff flats for girls’ lodging. Hostel residents avail mess facilities serving Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner. Each week offers a variety of menus. hostels have a separate lounge with Television, Carom Board, Chess & Other indoor games. Subjects Covered: Food Production, F & B Service, Housekeeping, Front Office Education, Management Education, Value Education, Computer Science, Philosophy, Psychology, Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Mathematics, and Zoology), Social Studies and Humanities (Economics, Geography, History, Political Science, Commerce, etc.), Agriculture, Library & Information Science, Books on different languages like English, Hindi, And Oriya, etc.

  The college has an auditorium facility for events and seminars.

  The college has a Housekeeping Lab that is fully equipped with sophisticated cleaning machinery of star hotel standards. Laundry Lab is equipped with adequate Laundry equipment required for students’ training.

  The college has two model hotel rooms of different types to impart accommodation-related practicals.

• I.T Infrastructure

  The college has two nos. of well-equipped Computer labs which can accommodate at least thirty-five students at a time. It provides Individual PC stations to each student separately. Each Computer has Wi-Fi connectivity.

• Medical/Hospital

  The college provides has a hotel industry that demands not only a sound mind but robust health also. To ensure that a student remains healthy all through his learning period, a qualified medical practitioner visits the Institute twice a week. The doctor is available at the hostels on the weekends too. In case of any sudden illness, he is always available on call. Standard First aid facility is also made available to the students in the practical labs.
