Institute of Rural Management Anand, popularly known as IRMA or IRMA Anand, was established in 1979. IRMA is a private institute located in Anand, Gujarat, India. IRMA was founded by Dr. Verghese Kurien, renowned as the ‘Milkman of India’. Dr. Verghese Kurien founded IRMA Anand with the initial support of various organisations and bodies, including the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (SDC), the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), and the Government of India, among others. Indian Institute of Rural Management Anand is recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The Institute of Rural Management Anand offers postgraduate and doctoral-level academic programmes in management. It offers PGDM Rural Management (PGDM -RM) and PGDM Rural Management Executive (PGDM-RMX) programmes at the PG level. IRMA offers a Doctoral level Fellow Programme in Management – FPM (RM). Students of the FPM (RM) programme of IRMA receive a fellowship of INR 25,000 per month for the first 2 years and INR 28,000 per month for the next 2 years. Each participant in the programme gets a contingency grant of Rs. 20,000/- per year for four years.

IRMA provides 80 plus scholarships worth INR 3.17 crore to the students. The following are the scholarship offered at IRMA, Anand:
RMA Scholarships: IRMA provides 20 merit-based scholarships worth INR. 1.17 crore for the students of Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Rural Management). Out of the 20 scholarships,10 would be awarded to the general pool and 10 would be awarded exclusively to female candidates. The scholarship amount will be up to 50% of the tuition fee. The scholarship in the first year will be based on the overall selection merit of IRMA’s admissions process, and in the second year will be awarded based on the academic performance i.e., the CGPA of the first year at IRMA.
Mirae Asset Foundation Scholarship:Â MAF provide 6 scholarships in a year. 3 Scholarship shall be awarded for the 2nd year students and 3 scholarships shall be awarded to the 1st year students. Scholarship amount is INR. 5 lakhs per students per year. The scholarship amount will be evaluated every year and will be decided at the beginning of the year.
SC scholarships:Â This scholarship covers the entire cost of education of SC candidates are available at IRMA. The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India (www.socialjustice.nic.in) has allocated 4 scholarships to IRMA for SC students. The scholarship covers tuition fees, non-refundable charges, lodging and boarding expenses, cost of books, stationery, and a personal computer.
ST scholarships:Â A scholarship is allocated for ST students by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India (www.tribal.nic.in).
IDFC First Bank MBA Scholarships:Â Providing financial assistance to meritorious students from economically weaker sections of society who are keen on pursuing an MBA degree or its equivalent from one of India’s reputed institutions. Selected students are getting scholarship of INR.1,00,000/- (per annum) to pursue their MBA or equivalent studies at selected Indian Business School. Institute of Rural Management Anand is one of the selected Institutes for IDFC First Bank MBA Scholarship.
Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) Scheme:Â The Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme, as per the AICTE rules, is available at IRMA.
Educational Loans:Â Educational loans are available from various banks to candidates enrolling at IRMA at favourable rates of interest and student friendly pre-payment scheme.
The institute has library including 42,628 books, 417 videocassettes, 40 CD-ROMS, 919 microforms, 1742 MTS reports, 108 OTS reports and 309 Fieldwork reports. The Library has subscribed to 453 periodicals including professional journals, newspapers and popular magazines. In addition to this, the library has also subscribed to three electronic databases, namely, Prowess (CMIE, Mumbai), Indiastat. com (Datanet India Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi), and ABI/Inform (Proquest; Informatics, Bangalore). It is also equipped with facilities such as OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) and Multimedia.
