National Institute of Technology (NIT) Surathkal, also known as NITK Surathkal offers a UG programme in the fields of Engineering and Technology. Established in the year 1960, NITK offers PG and doctoral-level programmes in the fields of Engineering, Management, and Science. The institute has 13 departments, 1 School, and 12 supporting Centres. NIT Surathkal ranks 12 and 38 under the ‘Engineering’ and ‘Overall’ categories by the NIRF 2023 Rankings. In addition, in the QS World University Rankings 2024, it has been ranked 125th in Southern Asia. NITK has also signed MoUs with NIT Andhra Pradesh, NIT Warangal, NIT Calicut, NIT Puducherry, GEC Thrissur, and GCT Coimbatore to facilitate research projects and works.

NITK Surathkal admission to more than 54 courses is done via various national level exams depending upon the course accepted by the institute. B.Tech is the flagship course at NITK Surathkal. This institute provides for a four-year B.Tech program in 10 specializations. Among all specializations offered, the most opted stream at the institute is Computer Science and Engineering (CSE). Admissions to the same are done on the basis of JEE Main scores followed by JoSAA Counseling. The JEE Main cutoff for CSE at NIT Karnataka ranges from 3079-10729 for the general category. NITK Surathkal Charges a fee of INR 1.71 Lakhs per year for its B.Tech program.

With this, NIT Karnataka also offers admission for the Postgraduate programs such as M.Tech, M.Sc, MBA, MCA respectively based on the other national level examinations such as GATE, IIT JAM, CAT, NIMCET. Further this Institute also provides admission to PhD courses. Admission for the same is based on the entrance examination and interview conducted by NIT.

Merit Cum Means Scholarship:

• NIT Surathkal offers Merit Cum Means Scholarship to its top 50 meritorious students every year on the basis of merits scored by the students in the JEE Main exam.
• The MCM Scholarship is only offered to the students whose annual family income is less than INR 4,50,000 and should have scored a minimum of 70% marks or above in their 10+2 examination.
• Students are awarded a sum of INR 2000 per month as a Scholarship award.

Merit Scholarships:

• Merit Scholarships at NIT Surathkal are only awarded to the top 5 students every year on the basis of their merits in JEE Main entrance examination.
• In order to be eligible for the merit scholarship, a student should have scored a minimum of 90% marks or above in the 10+2 level examinations.
• A sum of INR 10,000 is awarded per annum as a Scholarship award to the students.

Pradeep Gundappa Memorial Scholarship:

• The Pradeep Gundappa Memorial Scholarship is offered on the basis of the merits scored by the students of NIT Surathkal in the JEE Main Entrance examination.
• Students having annual family income less than INR 3,00,000 per annum and a minimum of 70% marks at 10+2 level are eligible to avail the facility of Pradeep Gundappa Memorial Scholarship.
• Students are awarded a sum of INR 2000 for 8 semesters as a Scholarship Award.

Commonwealth Scholarship UK:

• The Commonwealth Scholarship UK is offered to the students pursuing master’s and doctoral degree programs at NIT Surathkal.
• However, the Scholarship is only offered to the students of the internationally ranked institutions under QS Rankings of World Universities.
