BA LLB (Hons)
The BA LLB course at RGNUL Patiala is one of the most popular courses of the university. This is a five-year integrated course offered by the university. In the first 3 years of the course, Social Sciences subjects like Economics, English, History, Political Science and Sociology are taught as major and minor subjects along with Law subjects. From the third year onwards, the curriculum comprises Law subjects and one major subject. Specialisations are offered in 4 streams namely, Business Law, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law and International Law. The Rajiv Gandhi National University BA LLB fees is Rs 2,16,000 annually. The admissions to the BA LLB course are based on the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). However, passing class 12 from a recognised board and with an aggregate score of 45% marks for the General category and 40% marks for the reserved categories are also a basic criterion for admission.
LLM
The LLM is another popular course among the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law PG courses. It is offered for a duration of one year. The various specialisations offered under this course include Business Law, Constitutional Law, Criminal Law and International Law. However, the specialisations are offered subject to the condition that a minimum of 5 students opt for the same. To secure a seat in this course, the student must have passed the LLB or BL degree examination from a recognised university with 55% marks for the General category and 50% marks for the reserved categories. The RGNUL LLM fees is Rs 1,68,000 annually. The total seat intake for this course is 60 seats. The foreign national students must apply through the CLAT form directly to Registrar RGNUL.
LLM Executive
This course is considered equivalent to a Post Graduate Diploma for Executives or Professionals. The duration of the course is 1 year. The Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law fees structurefor the LLM Executive course is Rs 1,25,000 in total. This is the composite fees and needs to be paid in two instalments before each semester. The fee for the foreign national candidates is USD 3500. The course will be divided into 2 semesters of 6 months each and the specialisations covered will include an introduction to law and legal system, constitutional law, criminal law, police studies, corporate governance, IPR and commercial laws, and law and medicine. The Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law course admissions for this course are accepted in a total of 150 seats. The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university with 50% for general admission and 45% for reserved categories. Work experience of 3 years would be given more preference.
This is a unique diploma course that the RGNUL Patiala university offers in collaboration with the Punjab Jail Training School. The RGNUL fee payment for this course is made separately through the link provided on the official website and the amount is Rs 9,000. In order to apply for this course, the student must have a graduate degree in any stream for prison personnel with no less than 50% marks for the general category students and 45% for the reserved category students. This is a unique course among the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law courses and has an intake of 75 seats in total. There are reservations of 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST and 5% for Persons with Disabilities.
PhD
A candidate who wishes to apply for the PhD course must have a degree in master of laws (LLM) from a recognised university or an M.Phil degree in Law with a B grade at least. The seat intake for this course is not fixed and is announced through a notice by the university each year. 15% seats are however reserved for SC students, 7.5% for ST students, and 5% for Persons with Disabilities. The admission to this course is based on the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law entrance exam conducted by the university itself. The course is offered on a part-time as well as full-time basis. The minimum duration for the course is 3 years and the maximum duration is 6 years. Women candidates and students with disabilities may also be allowed a relaxation of 2 years in the maximum duration of the course. The RGNUL PhD fee structure is Rs 20,000.
LLD
The Doctor of Law or LLD course is offered at the doctoral level by the university. To apply for this post-doctoral research degree, the candidate must have completed a doctoral degree from a recognised university. For selection in this course, the candidate needs to submit his or her research proposal to the Academic Council of the university. Upon the approval of the topic of research, the selection in this course will be confirmed. The Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law fees for LLD is Rs 20,000. The duration of the course is flexible with the minimum duration being 3 years and the maximum duration being 5 years. RGNUL admission 2024 is based on CLAT scores. Students interested in NLU Patiala admission had to participate in the counselling process and select RGNUL as their preferred choice. CLAT result 2023 was announced on December 10 and the authorities conducted CLAT counselling registration between December 12 to December 22. Now, authorities will release round 3 cut off for RGNUL admission on January 22. Students have to select RGNUL Patiala during counselling registration and qualify the admission cut off to get admission in the university.

RGNUL international admission is offered to students coming from countries other than India. For each course, there are separate quotas for foreign national students. For example, 5 seats in BA LLB course and 2 seats in LLM course are reserved for foreign students at RGNUL Patiala.
NLU Patiala admission are offered based on CLAT merit list. Now, students must be wondering whether they should float the seat or freeze it. But before that, students must know the concepts of freeze, float and exit. Students who are allotted seats have three options i.e. exit, freeze, or float.
Now if a student is unsure whether they should float or freeze a seat then they must know that during CLAT counselling 2023 round 1, a total of 174 students were provisionally allotted seats for RGNUL Patiala admission. Since admission at the university is based on CLAT results, students first have to pay application fees for CLAT exam and then qualify the exam. Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes have been identified as the weaker sections of the Indian Society. They include all such castes, races or tribes, which have been declared as scheduled castes and scheduled tribes under the provisions of Article 341 and 342 of the Constitution of India. Scheduled Castes generally represent those communities, which have suffered from the stigma of untouchability in one form or the other. Scheduled Tribes are generally those who have been living in seclusion in hills and forests, more or less untouched by modern civilization and development.
The Constitution of India, promulgated in 1950, recognizes the Scheduled castes and the Scheduled tribes as requiring special protection. A number of provisions have been made in the Constitution with a view to abolish all forms of discrimination and put these groups at par with others. We, at RGNUL, Punjab, have taken a small initiative in this concern under the able leadership of our worthy vice-chancellor Professor (Dr.) Paramjit S. Jaswal by establishing an SC/ST Welfare Cell.
The RGNUL SC/ST Welfare Cell at RGNUL, Punjab, has been set up to ensure proper implementation of various schemes of UGC, Government of India and State Government regarding scholarships etc. for the welfare of the reserved categories. The SC/ST Welfare Cell also intends to ensure the effective implementation of the reservation policy in admission of students and recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staff at various levels. Besides sensitizing the academic community about the problems faced by the people of SC/ST category, the Cell also looks into their overall general welfare and other related matters.
