Tamil Nadu Dr Ambedkar Law University, Chennai, popularly known as TNDALU Chennai, is a state-owned Law University. TNDALU Chennai is recognised by the UGC and the Bar Council of India (BCI). The University offers five-year and three-year LLB courses along with two-year LLM courses. In addition, TNDALU also offers PhD courses in the field of Law. It offers legal education at its campus as well as through all its affiliated colleges located in Chennai, Trichy, Madurai, Vellore, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, Salem and Chengalpattu.
The University has also launched AIR Law Café and E-Library in collaboration with AIR Law Academy and Research Centre (ALARC), Nagpur. Besides, Tamil Nadu has signed MoUs with leading institutes such as the Indian Institute of Public Administration New Delhi, the University of Nantes, France and Indian Maritime University, Chennai. The university offers a three years undergraduate in LL.B. (Hons.) with a total number of 120 seats. The university also runs a five year integrated course in LL.B. (Hons.). with BA, BBA, BCA and B.Com which has 548 seats in total. Candidates for all the UG courses will be selected based on their marks in the qualifying examination. Application process starts generally in the month of June every year.
For admission in undergraduate course, the minimum marks required in the qualifying exam is 55% for SC/ ST/ NRI candidates and 60% for general candidates. For admission in integrated courses, the minimum marks in the qualifying exam required is 60% for SC/ ST candidates and 70% for general candidates.

The University offers full time as well as part time course in Ph.D. The minimum duration of the Ph.D. full time programme is 2 years and the maximum period is 5 years. The minimum duration of the Ph.D. part time programme is 3 years and the maximum period is 6 years

The TNDALU Chennai facilities are well-structured and well-maintained on campus. The TNDALU facilities include a separate accommodation, a cafeteria that serves hygienic and healthy food for students and employees on campus, and well-structured classrooms. The TNDALU Chennai facilities include an auditorium which is used to conduct seminars and events, moot court which is used for practice.
