Thapar University Admission Process 2024

TIET admission process includes the submission of the application form, entrance test, release of merit list, counselling process and final fee payment process. For some courses, admission is merit-based. Candidates seeking admission to the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology must follow the step-wise admission process as given below.

Step 1: Thapar University Application Process 2024

Candidates fulfilling the course-specific eligibility requirements can apply by visiting the university’s official website (thapar.edu). The aspirants shall ensure that they apply within the due date.

Step 2: Appear for the Entrance Test

Further, aspirants are required to appear for the entrance test i.e. JEE Main/ NEET for Thapar University BTech admission. Additionally, if the students have a valid score in JEE Main or NEET they need to mention their scores in the TIET application form.

Step 3: Declaration of the Merit List

Thapar University Eligibility Criteria

Only those students will be eligible for the award of Institute merit scholarships who have cleared all the courses prescribed for the respective programme in the year of consideration
In case student is upgraded through December Test in 1st year, he/she will not be eligible for merit scholarship in 2nd year on the basis of his/her performance in 1st year
In case FN/NRI student or IEP student is selected for merit scholarship-III in second year or subsequent years, he/she will be given award amount as per the tuition fee charged from Indian students of the same
The student who has been awarded merit scholarship by the Institute are entitled to receive stipend or any financial assistance from any other source. However, if the student is awarded any stipend or financial assistance from any other source, he shall immediately communicate the same to Dean of Academic Affairs (DoAA).

There will be no income limit of the guardians/parents of the students for the grant of merit
In case a student is eligible for more than one scholarship/free ship, he/she shall be awarded only one scholarship/free ship as per his/her preference

Merit scholarships will be awarded only if the number of students registered in a discipline/program is at least five

Library

The Library housed in a centrally air-conditioned aesthetically designed building which remains open for 24 hours on all the 365 days. The print collection of over 1,06,000 volumes consists of books, theses and dissertations, back volumes of journals, standards, and reports. Electronic collection of over 4500 units consists of Audio-Visual Materials such as CD/ VCD/ DVD. There is an impressive research and reference collection comprising of reference books, bibliographic databases, research reports, and standards. Adequate provision of professional and supplementary reading material in addition to standard text books has been made in the library collection. The Library also has growing collections of books and multimedia items for leisure, personality development, homemaking and other soft skills. The collection is regularly updated with latest editions and new publications. The Library has four reading halls with a combine seating capacity of 350 seats.
Hostel

The Institute has 13 hostels (8 for boys and 5 for girls) with all basic facilities including water coolers with gym room, TV room, AC reading room, table tennis room, night canteen, RO water, washing machines and geyser all the bathrooms, indoor games, lawns, and wi-fi connectivity. The hostel mess caters to all the food and nutritional requirements of students. The menu for all meal sessions is changed regularly to provide variety and wholesome nourishment. For security purposes, the hostel is fully equipped with CCTV cameras along with a security guard for 24 hours.
