The Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Anuppur, Madhya Pradesh has been established by an Act of the Parliament of India. It came to existence by the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University Act, 2007 and came into action in July 2008. It is a UGC-recognized university and also accredited by NAAC with grade ‘B’.

Established in 2008, Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (IGNTU) is a central university located in Madhya Pradesh. The University is accredited by NAAC with a grade ‘B’. IGNTU has 12 departments of allied disciplines that collectively offer 19 UGC-approved courses at UG, PG and doctoral levels. These courses are offered majorly in the field of Science, Arts, Humanities, Management, Commerce, Pharmacy, and many more.
IGNTU offers 12 UG, six PG and a PhD program in various specializations. The University shortlists applicants based on an online entrance test conducted by the University, named, IGNTU Admission Test. The final merit list is drawn up by university authorities based on shortlisted candidates’ past academic records, seat availability and performance in the admission test. Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak provides several infrastructural facilities for the students and staff such as a library with a collection of books, a separate hostel for boys and girls, computer labs to cater to the practical knowledge, a cafeteria to serve healthy food to the students, guest house, etc. Other facilities like a language lab, bank, ATM, post office, etc are also available for them.
The University has a boy’s hostel facility which provides good hostel accommodation for the students.

The University Library, Indira Gandhi National Tribal University is a Centre of information for the academic community of the University and is expected to be developed into a hub of knowledge to all the academic community and a gateway to national and global knowledge. It ensures fair access to knowledge to the academics on the campus in particular and to each individual related to the university in general. The Library started functioning in July 2009. Within a short period, it could attain a considerable level of development and is moving fast towards a fully automated library. The library is using KOHA Software for automation.
The University has sports facilities for all students.
The IGNTU is connected to the National Knowledge Network (NKN) through an optical fiber link with a bandwidth of 1 GBPS. A well-established NKN Center is placed at IGNTU campus that includes 1 router for Network and System administration, 1 High-Speed Internet Lab with 20 Computers, and 1 Video Conferencing Room. For enabling the campus indoor and outdoor WiFi and 2000 LAN node connectivity is under process. The University will provide 24 hours Network and Authenticated Internet access to all its employees and students placed at different departments of campus, Hostels, Staff Quarters and Visitors to enjoy the flexibility to access the web and exchange resourceful information from anywhere within the campus. IGNTU has established many computer laboratory and Language Lab for students.

Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak has a Placement Cell that helps in the smooth conduction of the placement drive conducted by companies. The Cell acts as a link between the recruiting companies and the students. It supports the students in making career-related decisions by giving career counselling sessions to them. IGNTU keeps contact with the past and potential recruiters and the employers of the corporate field are invited by the cell to conduct campus placements. Proper grooming and training sessions are organised by the Placement Cell of the university for them so that they have all the necessary skills. Students are a part of resume writing sessions and various workshops are also organised for the students for the development of soft skills of the students. There are various stages of the IGNTU placement process. After the pre-placement talk, Screening tests such as aptitude tests, logical and verbal ability tests, etc. are conducted by the recruiters to check how they think logically and how much knowledge do they have. Next, the candidates have to appear for a group discussion. Candidates qualifying all the tests and group discussions are selected for the final round that is the personal interview. Selected candidates are provided with an offer letter that has all the necessary information.
